Per the Constitution of Chow Chow Club of Canada, Inc., the following statutes apply to all current and future members of the Club:

5. MEMBERSHIP

Any individual interested in any phase of the breed shall be eligible for membership. The candidate will be sponsored by a member in good standing and shall be elected or rejected by the Board.

5.1 Classes of membership

There will be five (5) classes of non-transferable membership

a) Voting member—a person who resides in Canada who applies to and is approved by the Board for full membership by June 30 of the current year. Voting members are authorized to exercise one (1) vote in elections or on issues: voting, full fees.

b) Associate member—a person, including a non-resident of Canada, applying to and approved by the Board for associate membership: non-voting., reduced fees.

c) Life member—a voting member of the Club who has met the criteria for life membership as established from time to time by the Board and who is approved by the Board for life membership; voting, no fees.

d) Honorary member—a non-voting member of the Club who has met the criteria for honorary membership as established from time to time by the Board and who is approved by the Board for honorary membership: non-voting, no fees

e) Junior Member – a person under 18 years of age, including a non-resident of Canada, applying to and approved by the Board for junior membership. Non-voting, reduced fees.

5.2 Eligibility

No person will be eligible for, or continue to enjoy membership, who:

a) is under suspension or expulsion by the Canadian Kennel Club OR

b) is actively engaged in the breeding, buying or selling of dogs which are not purebred.

5.3 Member Address and Telephone Number

Members shall provide the Club with their current and correct mailing address, telephone number, and email address at the time of application plus any subsequent change of address, telephone number, or email address. “Care of” addresses (c/o) are not acceptable. The Board shall establish a policy concerning the use and dissemination of personal information and shall provide all membership applicants with a copy of this policy.

5.4 Withdrawal from Membership

Any member who wishes to resign must give written notice to the Corresponding Secretary. Members who shall cease to belong to the Club, either by resignation or otherwise, shall have no claim upon, or be entitled to participate in, any effects or property belonging to the Club, nor have any part of their membership fee for the current year returned.
Termination of membership may occur as a result of resignation, failure to renew, expulsion by the club, or as a result of deprivation, suspension, debarment, expulsion or termination of Canadian Kennel Club membership as imposed by The Canadian Kennel Club’s Discipline Committee.

5.5 Member Suspension or Expulsion

Any member who is suspended, debarred, expelled or deprived of privileges from the privileges of the CKC shall automatically be suspended from the privileges of this Club for a like period.
